We are seeking a Senior Manager of SEC Reporting to support our growing company. As a Senior Manager of SEC Reporting you will lead in developing the Company’s SEC filing process, keeping the company up to date regarding accounting and disclosure changes, performing technical accounting research and oversee stock-based compensation. This position will also contribute to the accounting team by providing continual recommendations for reporting process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SEC annual and quarterly 10-K / 10-Q filings process including the financial statements, footnotes and MD&A, while ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements under U.S. GAAP and the SEC (including iXBRL).
  • Manage other required SEC filings such as Proxy statements, 8-Ks, Section 16 and Form 144 filings, S-8s, etc.
  • Perform technical accounting research and implement the accounting for ad-hoc complex transactions such as revenue, equity and the related embedded derivative and lease reviews to these and other large material contracts.
  • Lead the adoption of new accounting pronouncements, including understanding the technical accounting rules, documenting accounting conclusions, and managing their implementation.
  • Manage complex accounting processes including stock-based compensation, marketable securities, EPS, leases, and assist with revenue. Support month-end and quarter-end close in these areas.
  • Assist with administration of Sera’s equity compensation program and software platform.
  • Assist with quarterly review and annual audit processes by our external auditors.
  • Interface with various groups including the finance leadership team, outside public accountants and attorneys, external tax firm, internal legal, and investor relations.
  • Assist with cross-functional projects on an ad-hoc basis (e.g. financial forecasting and modeling, process improvement initiatives, or finance-related software implementations.)
  • Assist with maintaining an effective internal controls environment and assist in preparing Sera for future SOX 404b compliance and audits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • At least 5 years of experience at either a Big Four public accounting firm or a mix of public accounting and public company experience.
  • Significant experience with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting regulations, as well as SOX 404b.
  • Ability to apply critical and analytical thinking to problem-solve and complete assignments, especially with limited or ambiguous directions.
  • Strong work ethic and taking personal responsibility for work outcomes.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels and functions in the organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office, ERP applications (Intacct), and financial reporting software (Workiva or ActiveDisclosure).

Preferred Experience

  • Active CPA license.
  • Strong SEC reporting and technical accounting experience. Life science or medical diagnostic industry.
  • Experience with Morgan Stanley at Work (Shareworks) stock plan administration software.
