At Sera, we’re proud to offer innovative products that meet the evolving needs of our customers. To support our continued growth, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead our daily accounting operations and team.
This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in GAAP, proven leadership skills, and a passion for process improvement. The Senior Accounting Manager will play a critical role in financial reporting, audits, budgeting, FP&A, and cross-functional collaboration across the organization. This position reports to the Corporate Controller and will have two direct reports.
Location
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Hybrid with the requirement of 3 days in office (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) and 2 days remote (Tuesday & Friday).
Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and support preparation of the financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting deadlines.
- Lead the month-end and quarter-end close process, ensuring adherence to GAAP and internal policies.
- Provide direct support to CFO by leading the annual budgeting process, and any additional periodic rebudgeting.
- Support regular cash forecasting and cash flow management processes.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to support compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Coordinate and manage external audits, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide insightful monthly and ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Mentor, lead, and develop the accounting team to promote continuous learning and high performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, Commercial Operations, FP&A) to streamline processes and improve reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA preferred.
- Ideal Candidate has experience in public accounting and industry accounting at a publicly traded company.
- Experience with Sage Intacct accounting system is a plus.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
- Experience managing payroll.
- Experience with financial analysis.
